BJP chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi's NGO Navjyoti India Foundation received funds from diamond merchant Harshad Ramniklal Mehta, who is under investigation for tax evasion. Bedi told TOI that she does not intend to return Mehta's donation, and said the onus was on the owner of Rosy Blue Pvt Ltd, who has also been involved in the controversial Kochi IPL team deal.

According to a submission by the Centre in the Supreme Court on May 2014, Mehta and his brother Arun Kumar are on the list of 18 persons who have allegedly stashed black money with LGT bank in Liechtenstein, and against whom prosecution has been launched by the Income Tax department.

Mehta also owns the Mumbai-based B. Arunkumar International, one of India's biggest diamond exporters, which is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The Centre's 2014 affidavit said the father-son duo were behind two trusts formed with LGT Bank — Dainese Stiftung and Dryade Stiftung.
